Love, Loss, and in Between

Today would have been my Mom’s 57th birthday. She passed away in May of last year and this is the second birthday she hasn’t been here for. She has missed two Mother’s Days, two Thanksgivings, and one Christmas. I’m not entirely sure why I feel the need to count the missed holidays, but I do.Continue reading “Love, Loss, and in Between”

Travel Time Out

I love to travel! A fact which, if you know me at all or have read any of my other writing, is in no way surprising. I could spend hours floating in the ocean, hanging in a hammock in the mountains, or driving through “flyover” states. It feels as though I spend my time oscillating between sadness, outrage, and trying to be grateful for what I do have. My heart aches and has been torn apart by personal tragedy and fromContinue reading “So… This is 2020?”

A Night Under the Stars…

The other day I was having my usual introvert battle between wanting solitude and quiet, and really wanting someone to share it with. Most days, life has a way of being so loud! Street noise, the refrigerator, dogs barking, people talking, laughing, shouting, all of it adding together to create a cacophony that almost neverContinue reading “A Night Under the Stars…”

A dinner alone…

Tiny lanterns light the room like firelight while music and conversations give the room a warm and cozy atmosphere. Just outside there is a thin path that has been shoveled in the dusting of snow and in the distance people stroll by bundled in coats and scarves while their breath escapes in small misty puffs.Continue reading “A dinner alone…”
